Project Highlights
- This project formed part of the grid reconstruction following the 1998 Ice Storm in which over 1000 towers collapsed leaving 4 million people without power.
- In accordance with heightened engineering standards following the storm, this project made use of special H-Frame Towers designed by Locweld to withstand extreme Ice Load conditions.
- Aside from utilizing Locweld’s innovative tower design, this project also involved pouring larger tower foundations, using thicker transmission wires, and making every 10th tower an “anti-cascading tower” to prevent a repeat of 1998.
